I'm back with news
My new flyback is finally in my hands after the Royal Mail doing their card trick and me having to go parcel hunting!
So, out comes the old one:

Here's the new HR one and its box next to the old. Looks to be nice, high-quality and well built

In it goes!

Reattaching all the wires and placing the board back into its tray in the chassis.

Fire the monitor up, and.... the power LED turns on, but no screen...
... but I turn up the voltage potentiometer on the new transformer and...
IT'S ALIVE!

:drinkin:

...but out of focus as you can see! xD
A careful tuning of the focus potentiometer on the new transformer returns the Philips to being as bright and sharp as it ever was!

Another excellent Amiga monitor saved from the skip!

Time to party and play some Apidya!

Many thanks to hikey and rkauer for the advice!
Cheers guys.
The flyback was the only thing wrong with this Philips monitor. I'll do the caps soon
Looks like my first encounter with high-voltage scary stuff was a success, and I managed to do everything safely
