try to reflash the rom. It helped a friend of mine with the same board!
Sometimes they get corrupted.
I can give you a contents if you want ,your serial number will not be the same though.
Cheers.
I could try, if it can stay stable for long enough (it sometimes does but rarley). I have had a look here: http://amiga.resource.cx/exp/dkb1240

Apparently the Ferret disk has the ROM update, is that true? If not, how would I update the ROM?

Take the RAM off the card. The original firmware on those cards isn't compatible with Kickstart 3.1 if there's RAM on there. So, either swap the Kickstart ROMs (faffy) or just take the SIMM off.

Then you boot the Amiga off the Ferret disk (It's available from Amiga Resource) and run the flash updater.

If it's not been flashed, it's possible your problems are just down to this incompatibility.

29C I believe it's an eeprom
So you need to just run the software. but if the rest of the rom is corrupted you will need a new one and a programmer.
Hope this is the problem, because it's easy to repair :)
Here is mine! I have the bad habit of backing up all eeproms and flashes of all cards I owned. :)
Im not entirely sure what I do with this

I took the SIMM off, it was still unstable but I managed to get through the whole update and confirmation the card was updated, still not working though :( It just randomly freezes as before

Please use full bin . You will need a programming tool. Ask someone near you witha programmer. If you can't find it, send me your eeprom and i will do it for you :)

Unfortunately this is something beyond my ability :(
I will contact the seller for a refund:( Thanks all for your help anyway :)

Marmes fixed mine by reprograming the eprom, I also had crashes on both at the time 1D1 and 1D4 rev's. After the eprom been reprogramed with the upgrade on the scsi ferret disk all was good working rock solid. No timing fixes were needed on the motherboards.

Hmm, is there anyone in the UK that can do this for me? I would imagine it would cost too much to ship to Marmes (if he was willing to do it of course  ). Perhaps I should ask the seller before I do this??

@taj

Ask the seller first, if you get confirmation I will program it for you.

Interestingly I do have a DKB Viper here as well =)

the chip 29f256 have a socket, if yes, you can replace with 27c256 prommed with binary file in precedent post, just for test.

i verify with my dump

verified and some difference with my cobra as dkb1240

even though the eeprom is easy to program, your better off not messing with it too much because of returns mate.

Ive asked permission from the seller, just awaiting a response then taking it from there :)

Could the oscillator itself be faulty? Whilst it would be a pain to change being as it's soldered to the board, it might be worth checking. I have a spare socket somewhere I can send you, and I think I have an 60EC030 @40Mhz floating about somewhere:unsure:

No response from seller yet:unsure:

Just to update on this, the seller got back to me and gave the OK for the card to go to Zetro, however, Scrappy and I have agreed a trade for the card and he will have a go at getting it working himself with the suggestions here :)

Hi all, i received this card from Taj and thanks to Marmes i have programmed a 27C256 with his firmware dump. Chip installed and card boots fine.

I have classicwb installed, whats the best program/utility to stress test the card?

I have been playing Cannon Fodder for about half hour but just wondered if there was a proper tool?

Thanks
