Hello my fellow Amibayers!

KRIKzz released today his new Everdrive N8, this time for the Famicom console :)

Here is the page from his e-shop: http://shop.retrogate.com/EverDrive-N8-Famicom-ver-EDN8.htm

Now the interesting part is that he has a nice discount for orders of 10 or more carts. One cart costs 109$ and if you get 10+ then he charges 85$/each. That's a -24$ discount, not bad!

I was wondering if there are enough people here interested so we make a 10+ order. Here is the the money details converted to EUR (paypal 05-02-2013 rates)

1 cart costs 109$ + 5$ shipping = 114$ which equals €87.58
10 carts cost 850$ + 5$ shipping (yes, the same!) = 855$ which equals €656.78 / 10 = €65.78 per cart.

The above 65.78 EUR is shipped to a single person. If I was to make the bulk order then I could ship via registered airmail in a padded envelope to EU for an extra €5.50 (or €3 for unregistered airmail at your own risk if you feel brave).

So an Everdrive NES that would usually cost €87.58 it would now cost €71.28, that is a €16.30 (or €18.80 for unregistered) difference at the end.

What do you guys think? I say it's worth it BUT it will obviously take a little more time to set this group order and mail the carts back to their owners. Needless to say that a person doing a single order will get this faster. Group things need their time, it's all a matter of how patient one is

I'm gonna leave this thread open for a couple of days for discussion, suggestions or even volunteers to take the group order, it doesn't necessarily needs to be me but I can do it no problem.

Please only enlist your self if you are absolutely sure you want the cart and agree with the group order terms... If we get enough people a proper sale thread will open and we can take it from there :)

Thanks for reading! :)

If this one is the one we're getting, then I'm in :D

Are these suitable for the NES or just the Jap Famicom?

Edit Actually I see he says they work on all versions, will any cart shell fit the board?

KRIKzz has stated that he will make a NES version at a later time, for now this will work on NES consoles but will require a 60->72pin adapter. The NES version will be same but native 72pins.
People usually harvest the older NES games that actually had a converter inside (game like Gyromite or Wrecking Crew) for similar reasons, I don't see why the N8 won't fit :

I'll pass on this then until the NES version appears.

Hmmm, I would prefer the NES version myself. I'll have to look up to see what sort of timetable Krikzz is working too.

slightly OT but remember that on a NES console regardless of what Everdrive version you have one must do some audio mod to enable games with expansion audio to be heard on a stock US/EU NES... there is lots of info online for that audio mod ... who doesn't like better sounds like this:

Dunno, guys, what you gonna buy, but no mappers avaliable in download section at moment. I have no idea, how you gonna use it without system software

Just something to note, if you contact him directly and order significantly more than 10, he may be willing to discount further. He's a nice guy, treat him with respect and you will get it in return ;)

Doesn't look like it at the mo. Not enough people have Famicoms here.

Guys, I've been chatting with a member on Retro-Gamer who is also a member on jamma+ about getting a group buy going on for these.
It would be quite simple to combine a couple of forums together into one bigger order and share the discount out. I'm certainly interested in getting a NES one when he brings them out in a couple of months.

I have no problem waiting..

Hi,

I'd like to get in on this group buy. I actually found this forum via Retro-Gamer (or maybe jamma+?) via googling Everdrive N8 group buy and was going to suggest that getting a multi-forum group buy might make sense.

I can help whatever way required. I know I'm only a new member and therefore basically completely untrustworthy, but... well I don't know, I don't really have a but actually.

(Oh, and er, I have a post in the Introduce yourself forum coming, but I guess it's under moderation.)

Welcome aerisdead! I've added you on the list, you never know...

As for group ordering with another forum, I can't say that it's an idea that I really like unless some trustworthy member from here is involved actively on the procedure... don't get this the wrong way but it's another thing doing something with forum buddies and another thing doing something with forum buddies that you are not a part of... (not to be taken as an insult to any other forum members)

I've ordered one, its on the way. Can't wait. Mappers and os are already in download section on his site.

I think it's fair to be wary of a group order with another forum. Feels like I would trust r0jaws if he is willing to hash it out with retrogamer/jamma+ members, I think it is worth exploring.

Was it dPrinny you were talking to? I see the Jamma+ forum group by thread was started by him. It's at a moment like this that I'm wondering if I'm going to exert too much effort to save $25, but... gosh darn it I want to save that $25!

Yes, it was. :)
If people are willing to wait until the NES one is out I am happy to arrange the group buy on behalf of Amibay. Then pool our orders and get them sorted out after. That way we all benefit from a nice discount.
