What the hell is the fan noise!? That thing should be near silent! Hehe.
Sounds like you have it running on a generator,

Just a little update, one of these arrived today:

kingspec-KSD-PA25-1-016MS_12041.jpg

I'm pleased to report its a hell of a lot faster than the 5400rpm HDD I was using, boots and runs much quicker. Comparable if not faster than my 3.5in HDD that I had in the larger case.

Anyway, only a small update but makes a big difference.

Mind you took a good few hours to transfer my data over USB

Steve :ninja:

Wow Steve this machine is awesome! I've been pondering getting a NG Amiga and if any it would probably be a u1. Yours looks sweet in that Antec Case! Great work mate!

Looking at your video it seems OS 4.1 on the NG amigas isn't to shabby at running them old Games in emulation too! And no need to worry about auto video switchers etc :D

Thanks for the kind words mate

It certainly was a nice surprise how the setup runs :)

Didn't know what to expect at first but I'm really fond of this system...

Steve.

This has to be the ultimate Amiga for me, once i've finished collecting the older models this is what i'll work up to. It's such a perfect size for gaming in the lounge. Good work mate, it's a very tidy machine. :)

Congrats Steve!! Really nice machine. I love my μΑ1 too but have to admit that setting the system up to the level that it runs with no "lock up" is a pain in the @s&. Still haven't managed to have a fully working 4.1.2 partition every time i boot this little fella. Maybe it has to do with the fact that i have a 3.5" HD and a DVD-Rom connected to the same 3.5" IDE port. Anyway, though, it still is the last "NG Amiga" with a trully amigan "Pedigree" (at least when we speak of all the systems released after 2002-2003).

@Groooover
Hold your horses as far as gaming is concerned :D You have to tweak a lot of things in order to have a "reliable" gaming system (emulation-wise). RunInUae is indeed a killer app and DOSBox runs well too but you have to learn how to do it cause it's not exactly a plug 'n play procedure. And of course anything less than 512mb Ram is insanely low for any gaming expectations.

@Steve
BTW, i see that you have an external dvd/cd-rom connected or not?

Do/did you experience any problems with "lock-up's" or system failures/GR or is a faultless system until now?

Hi my friend, thanks for the kind words. Yes this system has been faultless even with extended use such as 5 hours!

When I got it there was 3.5 hdd and dvd on the same IDE and this was not an issue.

Perhaps you have bad ram?

External dvdrw is usb and hooked to the rear ports, no setup needed it works right out of the box :) (not tested write tho)

Thanks, I'm really pleased with it. There is some setting up as said but drivers and such are all pre set in the OS.

Getting games and apps working can be a pain but once setup its awesome.

I'm setting up my AmigaOne uA1 (YES!!! I'm now oficially broke....), instaled OS 4.1 update 1 and them update 2.
I'm experiencing also lockups and slowdowns with more than one window open and draging windows full opened :(.

Apart from the above it's a beautifull system :D.

Any info on how to solve this?

---------- Post added at 22:14 ---------- Previous post was at 21:44 ----------

Aparently this is related to my screen res, droping from 1280x1024@75 16m colors to 1280x1024@75 rgb 64K colors solves the problem.

Maibe the radeon 7000 with only 32mb ram strugles at this high res :(.

Is it true that only the internal vga can be used in the uA1? Or can we plug a pci card on the available slot?

Hi!

Congrats on your new aquisition

I also noticed that with the uA1 at higher resolutions it was a little slow, that will be down to the 32mb VRAM. You could try without the 3D Hardware Transparancy though, see if that helps.

I asked about adding a PCI Graphics Card and the answer was no, because U-Boot does not support it :(

Quick question for you about update 2, I still have update 1, the second update will not install on my uA1, did you have any issues?

Anyway have fun with it!

Steve.

Instaling update 2 didn't pose any issues, instaled quick and with no problem at all.
In fact I was expecting alot more dificulty on this but the system is very friendly.

Pic of desktop and case, sorry for the hijack :ninja:.

Looks great my friend

I think its because my system was used for a long time with update 1, I'll take another look and post in the Hyperion forums:

http://forum.hyperion-entertainment.biz/

Also if you want to download some icon sets or get information like manuals/etc:

http://www.intuitionbase.com/static.php?section=a1os

And of course OS4 Depot for apps/etc:

http://os4depot.net/

Also here is some info on RunInUAE

Have fun!

After watching you videos on tube I think theres something wrong in my setup, even with resolution dropped to 1024x768 I can't open the amount of windows you did and move them or resise without heavy slowdowns :(.

ps: how the heck do I setup mame in amigaos4, all the files I download only bring xmamegui and ask for a MAME: ???

At first I though it could be a low ram issue but I saw in the photo you posted, you have already 512mb of ram so it's unlikely this is the fault. Maybe you should tweak a little bit the transparency and 3d comp. effect in PREFS. I suppose you have such options activated so that the old RADEON 7200 can't handle with ease. Test and report please.

Disabling 3D in prefs makes all work normal without slowdowns and in 1280x1024@75 16M clolors.
But watch this video: LINK
Hardware is the same uA1 @ 800mhz and radeon 7000 32mb and res seem 1280x1024, all runs smooth with many windows open etc

Hi Mate,

Not sure why you're getting the slowdowns, maybe Update 2 is a little more stressful on the hardware?

As you know I'm still on Update one and I'm running at 1366x768x16 now and everything seems fine on my setup but I remember 1280x1024x24 was slow.

I'm just uploading my working Mame setup to dropbox, PM me your Email and I'll invite you to share my folder.

Some bad news though, Mame on OS4.x does not support Joysticks

Not too sure about your issues, maybe worth doing a Video?

All the best,

Steve.
