Hi there.
I have here a SID 6581 marked as 2084, which gives bad results on some SID musics i have been testing.
It seems something is missing from the music, compared to the same one played on a XSID (Audio Boost) in 8580 mode and compared to two real 6581 (3984 and 2084) playing together in stereo.
I don't have other chips at hand right now.
I have used a test program SID Tester by Andrew Challis and it appears that all three channels are working with all waveforms, but when it comes to filters, High Filter = 15 makes that i can't hear anything in Low Pass and sound is very weak with Band Pass. All other tests are fine and audible.
ChatGPT says to me that it could be normal with this filter due to the chip sensibility but this AI has been proven to tell me a lot of bullshit before.
Indeed, i think i got this one from Ebay a couple of years ago or similar and there are often defect chips.
So, is it a defective chip or not?
