SCSI questions

Hi

I know is a noob question but, about the Centronics 50 pin.... is SCSI-I or SCSI-II?... I read lot of different information and I have many doubts.....

My idea to use the external HD50 connector of my CS MK-II to use an external SCSI box with Centronics connector......

This will decrease the SCSI-II performance?

Not 100% but I believe it is both. I think scsi 1 and scsi 2 BOT Huse the centronics 50 pin interface.

Im sure someone else can give you a more elaborate explanation though.

As AbraXXious said, both SCSI-I and SCSI-II use the same interface (50 pin internal, Centronics external).
The difference is the clock rate from 5MHz to 10MHz and the bandwidth from 5MB/s to 10MB/s.
You won't decrease the speed if you connect an SCSI-I device, but the speed of the device won't benefit of the speed of SCSI-II.

More questions/issues about SCSI devices and CS MK-II SCSI Kit.

I have installed the CS MK-II SCSI Kit upgaded to v8.6, on my towerised AK4D. All works fine but some issues with SCSI HDD's.

I have next HDD's/stuff:

- 3 Ultra, 68pin, LVD/SE, 18.1GB
- 3 Ultra, 68pin, LVD/SE, 36GB
- 68 to 50 pins adapters
- LVD/SE Active Terminator
- All drives configured as SE units and ID2 by jumpers on the HDD

My A4KD SCSI units:

ID1 - CF, IDE to SCSI adapter
ID2 - SCSI HDD, 68 to 50 pin adapter
ID4 - DVD RW, IDE to SCSI adapter
ID5 - DVD RW, IDE to SCSI adapter

Test:

- 18.1GB drives works great, no probs

- 36GB drives are recognized like 7 HDD's (7 LUNS)

All drives have the same specifications, jumpers, etc.... the only difference is the capacity.....

Any idea?

That's extrange... it might be related to something about the adaptor, or the HDD model itself... I have some ultra 68 pin hdds working flawlessly in my A2000, but I had no luck with an SCA hdd in the same setup... Does anyone know when you use a SCA adaptor, which has id jumpers on it, which are the mandatory jumpers, the adaptor's, or the hdd's?...

Other guy from Spain, that's great!

As I said, my HDD's are 68pin SE-LVD, not SCA. All Seagate Ultra, working on PC's, same specs, jumpers, blah, blah.... the only difference is the capacity... 18.1/36 GB.....

Is a strange issue... This evening I will try again, maybe a firmware issue? I don't know...

Any help will be appreciated....
