Ok quick info and most important info. Later on I will explain everything on my site. Yesterday I have received brand new batch of 6 pcs 40K LE FPGA and none of them worked, I have destroyed 5 of them. But, today got from another supplier grade 6 rated damn fast and expensive FPGA with 40K LE. All tested working just fine :) So we are good to go :)

Glad to hear that! Many thx for given updates to your fan community. Thats very important :)

"Thumbs up" @Majsta
Looking forward to hearing more. :-)
When you say damn fast, what clock speed would you say is possible with these grade 6 FPGA's?

@eXeler0 lower grade gives us 20-25% of better performance. In this situation we will see some benefit of this but later on on other planed project benefit of this is huge since memory will be done another way and we will be bale to run core much faster. Most important and reason why I mentioned that we have grade 6 is that we have trusted source now where we can get them :)

Yea, trusted sources are valuable :-)
Its a shame that one has to go through a bunch of bad dealers before you find the legit stuff.
Places like AliBaba arent lacking scammers, unfortunately. - Lots of rebranded stuff and simply stuff thats DOA.

Anyway good to hear you have a good source now, so that the focus can be on the important stuff ;-)

Hi!

So i'm a bit new to this and have some (perhaps dumb) questions. :)

1. Will this card give the A600 a color boost too, like 256 colors or higher in OS3.9?
2. If yes on 1. will it be internally so i can simply use my RGB-to-SCART cable for my TV from the 23 pin video output like normal?
3. Will it be designed so we don't have to cut anything from the original A600 to attached it?
4. Will an original A600 Power supply be enough to power it?

Thanks in advance :)

Don't worry, anyway there is too much articles related to this project over the years. So lot to read.
1. If all goes as planned with HDMI you will have much, much more
2. For start you will be able to use SCART + HDMI in the same time, however plan is to get everything over HDMI(old games, workbench...) so nothing else will be needed + FPGA will eventually provide GPU...
3. Nothing needs to be removed
4. Original power supply is enough since this time, unlike on old version we solved power supply for the card another way, you have article on that on my site.

Goal now is to provide ppl cards who are capable of any kind of upgrade in the future.

Thanks for the reply oh mighty one :) Sounds great!
So the future GPU would be an additional chip we could buy and place in a socket of the Vampire600v2 or something?

*edit* I poked around a bit on www.apollo-core.com and i think the GPU is a software update into the FPGA.

I'm curious to where the HDMI cable should go into the A600 shell without cutting it open

@Jepplen you dont expand the Vampire with new chips AFAIK. The FPGA the dev team chose is big enough to hold other stuff besides the CPU.
Not sure if you are the "techical type" so think of this analogy:
Think of the FPGA as a 3 room apartment. The CPU moves into one room, you still have 2 rooms left. GPU moves into the second or third room ;-)
But when you first buy the apartment, only the cpu has moved in. ;-)

An FPGA is programmable digital hardware. It contains a fixed number of digital components but the 'wires' connecting these components can be reconfigured through software. Essentially this means that this 'hardware' can be changed simply by flashing some software into the FPGA without ever having to change the actual hardware. And this can be done over and over again.
You could probably install a HDMI connector in place of the RF modulator and connect it that way, or just route a cable through a hole somewhere. Anyway, do not buy this board for the HDMI feature as it may or may not be implemented. First and foremost, it is an accelerator. :)

Thanks guys!

I wouldn't cry if it didn't come with HDMI, although having the option is always interesting. Especially for future expansions without having to re-design the circuit. I would most definitely not remove anything stock such as the RF to lead a cable there, i dunno, i don't like changing it, but if there are no other ways, i will likely do it anyway haha. I'm such a hypocrite.

Thanks i think i got now :)
I have put in a pre-order, hopefully i won't have to wait until a second batch.

You need to remove stuff like the metal shielding anyway to mount the Vampire. It doesnt connect to the regular expansion slot, it sits on top of the existing 68000 CPU on the A600 motherboard. So opening the Amiga up + some "tinkering" will be required. ;-) Still.. installing procedure is not unlike the one for Indivision.

My A600 came without the top RF shield so not to worry :P
I love to tinker with old nostalgia filled electronics, just not cutting in the original plastics and things like that.

Well, if you want HDMI out from a device that currently has no such port then *something* needs to be changed ;-)
But I bet a clever solution will surface... A lot of clever ppl out there tinkering with stuff like this all the time ;-)
