Vertical lines on a gas plasma

Probably a bad connection between the panel and the connected flat-cable. Usually this is not servicable, although I've been partly successful in fixing such an issue with an LCD by wedging something between the cable and the case so the pressure on the cable where it connects to the panel was increased a bit. It was only partly fixed because it did solve the problem in the short term, but after a few months it returned as it was. This cable is normally permanently fixed to the panel so a proper fix would require replacement of the entire panel.

That sucks, doesn't sound like something to bet on when it is not super cheap.
