Wow Tom! Very nice. :D

It's too bad it takes up the expansion slot. I was hoping to use the Zorro adapter I bought from you on my A1000. Please keep us updated with your progress.

I would take one. I have a lovely almost mint condition A1000 that is crying out for something like that.

Any chance of two ide connections (master and slave) and at least 8 mb on board? Oh, one last thing, not sure how difficult it would be to untie the cpu from the system clock.... but since 16 mhz and higher 68000 cpus are cheap as chips (under $5.00), any chance of piggy backing a faster 68000 cpu? Not sure how difficult it is to untie the cpu clock from the system clock, but an 8mb ram board with two ide connections (for installation of ide to compactflash HD and an ide laptop cdrom) and a 16 (or better still, 28 Mhz) 68000 would be amazing.

Thats a thought, how difficult would it be to take the usual 7.14 mhz cpu clock, triple it, or quadruple it and feed the new clock signal to a faster 68000 cpu?

Errr, I should learn to read the complete thread before posting. :)

Nice work, but I hate external upgrades. I would only be interested in an internal one - trying to track one down at the moment.

Keep up the good work though, and please feel free to contact me if you ever come up with an internal solution, I now have two A1000s that would be perfect candidates.

hey!
Please keep this a1000 owner in the loop. Would *really* make my amiga 1000 usuable (for editing docs, compiling in c,etc).

Thanks,
John

Interested possibly also, even tho I also have your Zorro adapter. This might be neater..

Q: My A1000 has an Insider II bringing my A1000 to almost 2M RAM. Think these will get along or might there be some RAM address problems?

p.s. I found this on the Amiga HW Database:

ON Autoconfig ($C00000)
OFF No Autoconfig ($800000)

Thanx,

desiv

The insider uses a totally different address range than the Tom's expansion (which is from 200000 to 3FFFFF).

Not without rewriting the device drivers...;):shhh:

Doubling the CPU speed is easy, but the E-clock output must be halved or the CIA chips & Paula will go nuts (if they survive the doubled E-clock signal).

Tom is working on a internal with 4 meg this one will use SMD tec so he
can keep size down..

Woohoo!!! Thats great news.

Will it work with other cpu acellerator boards installed? I have heard a few reports that boards based on the Ide68k will not cooperate with other plug in cpu boards.

Is this the case here? If so, is there any way around it?

I'm greatly interested in this memory/ide interface of yours. I'm presently searching for a ram expansion for my Amiga 1000 (I have 2).

So count me in for a pair when they are ready.

PS.: Internal or external doesn't matter for me.

I'm absolutely interested of an ide interface board for my A1000!
If possible make it compatible with an accelerator board that fits into the 68k socket :D
