ok - but then can the amiga boot from an iso...or does the GoTek? That being said as im starting to learn you cant just use "any ole CF Card or SD Card" ive ordered a preformatted one with 3.2.3 on it that will at least confirm if the IDE port works plus i get a CF card which i know definately works...if that does then i can run on the internal IDE until the Buddha turns up...about another 2 weeks so im told...

Good morning, I assembled a rev 1.1 and almost everything works, I'm only having problems with the fastram. Something strange is happening: if I don't insert any memory modules, I get a flashing yellow screen. If I insert a memory module the machine boots and works correctly but it does not see the fastram.I've currently tried 4 and 8 modules. I understand that the GAL to get 112mb is optional, right? Anyway, I'll program one today. A user told me it's essential even with 4- and 8-modules. Can you advise me? Thanks.

Hi There, Retro Passion built my board so i cant say. That being said recently in the last week ive had a few yellow screens - not sure why though although ive got a few cards in mine (zz9000, Buddha and X-Surf) - not sure if the initialization of drivers connecting the hardware to the os has caused that....have you managed to get anything connected to the onboard ide port running??

With nothing connected, just the motherboard. DiagROM didn't find any problems, only the RAM is missing, but the strange thing is that the flashing only works without memory inserted.

Ive got the memory inserted and have seen the yellow screens - mine does have the GAL flashed for the large ram sticks.

I have a 128MB GottaGoFazt3r and it works fine, so by connecting the hard drive I was able to use sysinfo, aibb and the Amiga test kit. No problems, the system is really stable. I only have problems with the onboard RAM.

ok - did you use the standard HD toolbox? (did you have to adjust the device name)? Ive not managed to get any storage device to be seen....

Hello,
I had a similar problem (couldn't find the RAM).
Check the solder joints and/or components U894-U895, then if there's no improvement, check 892, 891.
regards

Are you using EDO or Fast Page?

Thanks, I solved it. I had soldered the sockets backwards. Luckily, nothing burned out. Now I have 16 MB fully functional, all tests passed. I'm almost done, just the CPU connector and the 54-pin connector.

There is someone from Taiwan on eBay selling the 54-pin connectors, RabbitHole sells the CPU connectors.

Been trying to solve some graphics glitches and some audio corruption on some demos/games. Resoldered Alice, paula, and Lisa and the adv7120 chips. Now I cant get it to boot at all, the screen does not turn on. The only thing I have noticed is Hsync on Alice beeps on continuity (reads .4 on the 200ohm range on the multimeter). I tried heating up the hsync and ground pin on Alice to try to get rid of the short. I even removed the Alice and it is still there

Could be a lengthy post but ive been fighting with mine...!!! While trying to re-learn what id forgotten 30 years ago, i dont think mine is running correctly. I might end up jumping around as ive tried so much stuff ive lost count of what order ive done things in.

From a card point of view ive got a zz9000, Buddha, and X-Surf. I bought the Buddha as i cant get any storage device to work on the onboard IDE, tried an old 80gb 3.5, 320gb 2.5, CF to IDE card - all arent seen (im guessing the HD toolbox device is set to scsi.device)?? - ive got the xsurf as the network on the zz isnt supposed to be great....

OS3.2.3 Roms fitted.

So, not in any particular order ive tried....
1. Various different memory cards from a storage point of view....Cf Cards, 4, 16,32 and 64GB
2. Switching the position of the cards around, and also removing the zz and xsurf
3. Ive got memory from the original 4000D config, swapping them out doesnt change anything. Ive got a brand new 128meg sim which i bought at the start of the year.

Its totally random but what tends to happen is i format the drive, at best i can get to video drivers fitted, 3.2.2 and 3.2.3 installed then start to get memory errors, the keyboard will stop working and produce either no characters or random ones. Ive tried reinstalling at least a couple of dozen times - sometimes i dont get as far as even getting to the toolbox.

Ive tried removing everything apart from the Buddha but it doesnt boot atall at that point... (i might be wrong in thinking that it boots without any memory in) and uses the chip mem on board to boot?

These are the latest errors but ill see DH0 errors ram errors with the same code, workbench errors (same code)

Retro Passion built the board at the start of the year (ive only started using it in the last few months but its few and far between when i can get any time on it) full time job, life, kids etc etc - i did speak to him on email last month and he did say in all fairness hes happy to take a look at it but wondered if theres anything i could do before i resort to sending it back...thanks to anyone that can offer an insight.

Ive not really got to using it until the last few months as i wanted to get all the hardware together first and as these things cost a fair bit its taken time...!
