Could be a lengthy post but ive been fighting with mine...!!! While trying to re-learn what id forgotten 30 years ago, i dont think mine is running correctly. I might end up jumping around as ive tried so much stuff ive lost count of what order ive done things in.
From a card point of view ive got a zz9000, Buddha, and X-Surf. I bought the Buddha as i cant get any storage device to work on the onboard IDE, tried an old 80gb 3.5, 320gb 2.5, CF to IDE card - all arent seen (im guessing the HD toolbox device is set to scsi.device)?? - ive got the xsurf as the network on the zz isnt supposed to be great....
OS3.2.3 Roms fitted.
So, not in any particular order ive tried....
1. Various different memory cards from a storage point of view....Cf Cards, 4, 16,32 and 64GB
2. Switching the position of the cards around, and also removing the zz and xsurf
3. Ive got memory from the original 4000D config, swapping them out doesnt change anything. Ive got a brand new 128meg sim which i bought at the start of the year.
Its totally random but what tends to happen is i format the drive, at best i can get to video drivers fitted, 3.2.2 and 3.2.3 installed then start to get memory errors, the keyboard will stop working and produce either no characters or random ones. Ive tried reinstalling at least a couple of dozen times - sometimes i dont get as far as even getting to the toolbox.
Ive tried removing everything apart from the Buddha but it doesnt boot atall at that point... (i might be wrong in thinking that it boots without any memory in) and uses the chip mem on board to boot?
These are the latest errors but ill see DH0 errors ram errors with the same code, workbench errors (same code)
Retro Passion built the board at the start of the year (ive only started using it in the last few months but its few and far between when i can get any time on it) full time job, life, kids etc etc - i did speak to him on email last month and he did say in all fairness hes happy to take a look at it but wondered if theres anything i could do before i resort to sending it back...thanks to anyone that can offer an insight.
Ive not really got to using it until the last few months as i wanted to get all the hardware together first and as these things cost a fair bit its taken time...!
