I paid for two c64->plus/4 joystick adapters from a German seller on Ebay on the 11/06...

After waiting patiently for 3 weeks and no adapters had arrived I e-mailed the seller and asked him if all was o.k... he just replied with something to the effect of "don't worry, it's shipped".

Waited another week then e-mailed him again with a similar response... finally he changes the status on the listing to shipped... you guessed it, another week goes past and still no adapters...

I open up a dispute through paypal, he puts a tracking number on... the tracking number does not work without a posting date so I thank him for the tracking number, tell him the item doesn't appear and I need more info and he posts back instruction on how to use the internet and which website to go to...

This :censored: has tipped me over the edge however, I have still remained civil and have now posted back asking for the posting date... I'm going to give him 24 hrs to respond with a helpful post otherwise I will escalate to a claim tomorrow.

Just needed to get it off my chest, screaming at the laptop isn't as cathartic.

I would like to post his E-bay id on here as a warning to everyone, is that allowed?

I to have been messed about by EBay sellers on occasion and yes they can be complete :censored: but as long as you paid with PayPal you should get your money back

My latest issues have been with selling items as "faulty / not working" and people saying it's not as described saying it's "faulty / not working".

No i'm dead serious it's gotten that bad!

sorry to hear that mate, that's not good :(

how long does eBay give for a dispute to be opened since the auction ending time?

I sold some firewall hardware. The firewall worked fine. but online updates no longer worked because you needed a subscription to get updates and the company went out of business. I posted this in the ebay listing. Someone bought it, then 2 days later sent me a message saying that they can't get updates. I told them that I specifically posted that it couldn't get updates in the listing. He responded with "What good is a firewall that cannot get updates?" then demanded a refund. I talked it over with ebay and they said that I did not have to refund the item since it was described properly, but I did anyway just to be a good guy and avoid any further BS from him.

So I just ended up selling it on the street for a little lower, and less hassle.

For some bizare reason, Royal Mail take 2+ days longer to deliver ebay sold items compared to items I've bought from fellow amibay members. I guess for ebay its ok to mark item as sent once you've gotten an address label on it, and considered heading in the general direction of the post office in the next day or two.

They give you 45 days from the time the auction ends...

That's to open a dispute, from the time you open a dispute you then have (I think) 30 days to escalate to a claim.

TBH, I've almost been put of selling on there forever. Certainly faulty items. It seems no matter how clear I am people seem to just want something working at non-working prices.

As for eBay agreeing with you that is a very rare result these days. I had to work my arse off for removal of a negative FB that I received despite the buyer not sending me a penny. Though I've already talked about that.

Wierd thing is, Ebay favours buyers who dont pay them squat and seems unfair to sellers who psy all the fees... That doesnt add up somehow...

And using paypal AND winning a dispute doesn't ensure you'll get your money back as I'm sure that they can only refund you if there is funds in the actual paypal account.

I hate eBay with a passion nowadays.

They have a way of 'freezing' the funds if a dispute is opened. I'm not sure what they do if the funds are withdrawn already though... perhaps take it from one of your funding sources that are setup to pay with.

Oh, I am having so much fun now with those A3000's I have listed. The overseas people can not or refuse to actually read the listing. I have free shipping in North America, and listed in the ad Big Bold and in red letters : Shipping world wide will cost $100 more. I am not sure if this is a communication breakdown, but I have a buyer from Italy who actually hit the BIN button and has no clue what that means.
I have also had a few others from overseas trying to get free shipping also, when the listing clearly states "free shipping to the US and Canada ONLY".
People from Canada are suppose to be polite, but its cases like this where I personally just want to sarcastically chew these morons out for not actually taking an extra minute to re- read the listing out loud and save everyone grief.
But, I believe that is the biggest downfall, people look at the purdy pictures and don't or can't be bothered to actually read things anymore

An interesting aside to this is that, through E-bay, I have now sold to people all over the world. Do you care to guess which country I have had the LEAST problems with? It's actually the UK! Now I have had a few little issues with a certain seller sending me A1200 parts, when I needed A600 parts, but other than that 0 problems with the buyers. I am not sure why, perhaps it is because we sort of speak the same language (except Canadians from Newfoundland- even we Canadians have a hard time figuring out what language they speak). Perhaps it if from the 100 or so years we have gotten Coronation Street on the tv? (I believe that that show was broadcasting years before TV was even invented) I don't know, but it seems I will have to block most of the overseas people except Brits from now on.

Who is the seller?

I'll PM you his ebay ID, not sure if I'll break the rules by doing it publicly...

Good News is that I finally received my items!
The were post-dated 18/07/2011 which is quite a long time from when I paid for them on the 11/06/2011 but at least I got them :)

I now understand his reluctance to give me an actual posting date...

Ironically, when they arrived last week I was in hospital so can only just use them now!
