I have a question about this item:

Cable for connecting GOTEK as external floppy drive
- With this cable you can connect GOTEK floppy as external drive. Gotek is powered directly from external port and shows in system as DF1:. Cable features genuine 23pin dsub connector. Many cable colors available to choose from in my original thread here.

You wrote that Gotek is shown as DF1, but the board of gotek must be set up as ds1 o ds0? With a boot selector it should be set as ds0 since DF0 is deactivated and gotek should be seen as DF0.
I wanted understand if it is possible with this cable.

Thanks for a good question. In fact, the cable works as follows: when S0 set on Gotek it appears as DF1. When S1 set on Gotek it appears as DF2.
When Amiga has two internal drives, it shows as DF2 or DF3 depending on S-jumper on Gotek.

So with a boot selector it will always appear as DF1 (with gotek set as ds0) also when I want to deactivate internal drive with a boot-selector and use the gotek as DF0?

Can you describe your setup more detailed?
Generaly with a bootselector (on A500), you can make the external Gotek bootable (which then shows as DF0 and then your internal real drive becomes invisible.

Actually my gotek is put inside an external drive case, connected to the mobo of this unit (which has a power supply in order to activate and deactivate it). I have also a boot selector which works well with DF0 selected but does not work when DF1 is selected to work as DF0.

I set up gotek both as ds1 and ds0 but does not work when put as DF0 with boot selector, while works fine as DF1 when set up as ds1.
I noticed, also with another external disk drive, that it must receive signal from DF0 before start to work as DF1; this depends from the board of external unit I suppose.

So if I connect the gotek directly to Amiga as DF1 with your cable it should work and boot as DF0 with boot-selector, since there's no the passthrow from external drive board.
But now I have new doubts since you wrote that with your cable when S0 set on Gotek it appears as DF1. When S1 set on Gotek it appears as DF2.
So can it work as DF0 with a boot-selector?
