Out of 600 ppl who pre-ordered I see 10 people complaining.. What I *don't" see is the other 590 complaining. I'd say, that's a pretty good outcome ;-)

Cheers, now lets all go have a beer and relax. :p

I second that :thumbsup2::thumbsup2:

All the best to Majsta, Kipper2k and the Apollo team :D

And I'll third that too. Lets not lose perspective of what the guys have done here for us in their spare time - the cost reflects what it will enable us to do, and still cheaper than a packed A4000, but one you can plug straight into an A600 and an HDMI monitor.
I'm in the queue and looking forward to getting an email someday soon - so thanks guys for bringing new opportunities to the Amiga community

How to lie using statistics? Here's another one: 10 people complain, 10 people are happy about the situation. 50% complain....

Just another idea:
I understand, prices for material are hight. I understand some people want to have the V at any price. Why they should pay for this?

a) Preorder list till price rise:
This people may pay 180€ instead of 150€. But they have to wait until their orders are ready. They might have to wait some more months. They know, they would have to wait, when they ordered theri V.

b) New price:
Every one, who orders now, from the moment the price was risen has to pay 250€, but gets the V bevor der preorderers (e.g. within 6 months)

c) Speed-Order:
Lets say: Everyone who wants to have the V very fast should pay 350 or 400€, but will get the V very fast (e.g. within 1 month)

Everybody who wants to chance from the preorder-list to "250€" or to the priority order can do it. The ones who want fast delivery, should pay for this service.

I'm patient and I would not feel betrayed....

Absolutely not, that's not the ethos of Amibay and not fair to the lets say "poorer" members who have been patiently waiting for a very long time.

whom has the most £ $ € does not get the item 1st or jump a queue. you have to just wait your turn (Next in line so to speak),

Here at Amibay rich or poor everyone gets a chance of that item they have been looking for, its not how big your bank account is..

Majsta , Kipper2k & the Apollo team have brought us an affordable premium performance product created like in the good old days of Spectrum or C64 games, created in their bedrooms :) an idea turned into something fantastic and should be applauded, I feel sad when I read some of the comments in this thread,, all I can say is to Majsta and the team "Thankyou" and I look forward to the future.
Vampire 500 & 1200 just,,, wow...

Wow indeed.

OK I think I am probably one of the queue jumpers mentioned! Majsta very kindly provided my vampire early because I wanted to demo it as next gen hardware at 2 Amiga events in Ireland this summer. Since then, I have used it and learned more every day.
I will continue taking it to events to demo the hardware (next one will be on the 5th November) each time the little 600 comes out the number of people who want one or ask for a 1200 version is incredible.

Well done majsta and kipper, you are doing epic work here and I suspect the 1200 will be even more popular.

Sorry if anyone thinks queue jumping / promotion boards are wrong, but it has brought much more interest. And interest surely will encourage the devs to add the 500 and 1200 boards.

No complaints from me. It will be interesting to know how many of these complaints actually lead to a cancelled order. I can tell you the v600 is worth far more than even the current 250 asking price when you consider the power.

You can always cancel your order if you don't like it.

Today I had amazing working day and broke personal record and did 22 cards bottom side for 8 hours. All of you who have card knows how many nasty 0402 capacitors is there. My pick and place machine is fine tuned and eating components like crazy. I needed to order more tonight. I ll start sending those cards soon.

Wonderful romantic view, which ignores all human problems, (not only) Kippers upcoming burnout, frustration about eB-pricing, envy and more. This "hobby-project" is growing into a (multi?)-million-$-project...

Vampire 500 & 1200 just,,, wow...

I have nothing but admiration for this project and what Kipper and the gang are doing, two of our LAG members have Vampires in their 600's and just love them. We're going to be showing them off at the up coming anniversary bash.

I'm not sure when I signed up for my Vampire it was a while ago i know that much, I've been looking forward to getting a notification that I could order.

So I was a little surprised when I receive an email this morning asking for $306 which is a lot more then the 120euro I'd seen the card listed for on the first page of this thread. I dont get online too often lately because of my health, so I've not been following whats been going on, I thought the card was still priced at 120 euro, so this email has left me a bit flustered. I put my name on the mailing list as I want to support the Amiga community and this amazing card you guys are making, but I was never expecting the price to have gone up by over 100%.

I understand NOW that you guys have been selling these at a loss and that demand has been overwhelming, it's totally understandable that you should get something out of this, its a lot of hard work. I'm just a little sad that after waiting to finally get an email, I cant join in as the increase has priced me out :-/

Either way, I want to wish you guys the best of luck, these cards a simply amazing and while I probably will never own one now, I can still be green with envy at those who do.

The original price from Majsta on this thread was €90 however a far larger FPGA was required to accomodate the full CPU core and additional features despite this Majsta honoured the price for those that had already paid. The price on the thread was increased to €120, since then the RAM on the board was doubled, this also doubled the bandwidth and a micro SD connector was added in addition to the HDMI connector not found on verson 1. Despite all this the thread price has been honoured by Majsta. This price was clearly not sustainable so when the pre-orders closed and Kipper2k took over new order requests the price was set at €150 and was displayed on Kipper2K's site, this was the advertised price you may have expected to pay when you emailed Kipper2k and lots of orders were filled at that price. As people began to get their boards and word spread of just how good it was interest in it exploded and the queue of those wanting one has grown beyond what any one person building, testing and doing all the admin can manage so building it has been outsourced to a professional board house. The change in production and other factors necessitate a price rise to €250 which under current exchange rates is about US$279 (the currency used for parts purchasing). I assume the rest of the price requested is for insured shipping.

I know people are disappointed not to get the board at one of the lower prices but nobody has taken your money so you are free to walk away if it's too much for you. There was no alternative if production was to continue so if anybody must decline please do so politely as Kipper2k does not deserve the hate mail and abuse he has received.

Absolutely agree with the sentiment on the last post. Majsta and kipper deserve a break. They have between then designed and brought to marked *the* best non-ppc accelerator for any Amiga. They should certainly not make a loss and anyone who thinks this price rise is profiteering is in cloud cuckoo land. ;)

I totally understand the reason for the increase, I do however feel let down and like my times been wasted.

This could have been handled better, such as getting a fore warning via email. Altering the price after you've agreed on one with the buyer just doesnt seem fair. Saying I can walk away from the deal after I've been waiting expectantly to buy a card, really doesn't make it any better either, as it just feels like the past few months have led to an anti climax.

No I don't think they should be sold at a loss, thats bad business, Kipper and the gang deserve to get something for all the hard work. I just wished I'd not spent the past few months getting excited, believing I would get something, only to find out at the ninth hour that the price has been changed. I signed up on the mailing list because I was told it was the surest way to get news.

Also didn't I read some place that orders placed before the price change would be honored?

I dont blame them for increasing the price, I know building these cards has turned in to a full time job. I just wish they had gone about it differently and saved me from getting my hopes up.

I'll certainly be weary of signing up to any more projects that appear on Amibay.

I received notification about being about to get a Vampire for the 600 which is great. With the price increase (I'm not complaining) I feel that I might wait for the 500 or 1200 version. If I lose my place with the 600 Vampire will this hurt chances of getting the 500 or 1200 version in the future?? I definitely do not want that!

Thanks!

I doubt that if you let the 600 V2 go that it would jeopardise any future purchases from them, they are not like that as far as I am aware.

I also got notification about confirming or cancelling etc, but the way I see it is, is that I have now a chance to own one of these little beauties and I am going to do all that I can to get one ie put the extra cash to one side to ensure one of my 600 gets this fantastic card and a new lease of life. Personally I wouldn't let the opportunity of owning the 600 V2 pass at all. I will buy the 500 and 1200 version when they are being produced but in the meantime the 600 will do everything that I want and I am looking forward to playing Rise of the Triad on my big TV via hdmi :)

Here is a video recorded at a recent conference where Majsta held the talk about Vampire 500 v2 and the future of Vampire acellerators. The video is fully subtitled (use the CC button). Enjoy!

That's alright IF you have the money to lash out on an extra £100 on what you originally thought you were going to be paying. But for the of us I guess we're out of luck.

Love the Vampire boards, even though i do feel let down.

Thanks a lot for the link. It's a very interesting conference.

And again, thank you Igor and the Apollo team for your work!
Waiting for a Vampire 500 for my A1000 and perhaps one day, the V4000 for my A4k!

Hopefully pricing of their future products will have a less fluidity, so future customers don't face bitter disappointment and little in way of appeasement for their time.
