Anyone going to the HMV midnight launch at the Oxford Circus flagship store?

First 100 people in the queue get 2 free games together with their Wii U.

Yah, it's not like it's the Hobbit or something :)

I looked at it but i think i'll wait till after Christmas and see what reviews say.

Blast. Got a mail today that my ZombiU is delayed a day :(

Just returned from HMV @ Oxford Street, with...

- a premium box / NintendoLand
- New Super Mario Bros U (free)
- Call of Duty BLOPS II (free)
- Wii U Gamepad Kit (free)
- Zombi U
- Pro Controller
- WiiU Remote
- WiiU Nunchuk
- Luigi Hat (free)
- Mario Hat (free)
- 60cm plush Pikachu (free)
- Zombie Mask (free)
- a bloody arm stump (free)
- Wii U T-Shirt (free)
- Wii U Hoodie (free)
- Lots of small Nintendo merchandise like pens, keychains, lanyards, bags, etc. (free)
- 8 slices of pizza (free, eaten at the scene)
- a cold (free)

Queuing was absolutely worth it, met lots of cool people, media folks... atmosphere was great, so was the countdown to midnight launch and the party.

Would do that again, despite standing outside for 12 hours at chilly temps!

Wow, well done mate. Wish I had been there ;)

Gamed all night and is sleeping now, I bet :D

Mine is waiting for me at home, went for the ZombiU bundle. Stock levels in Ireland are pretty poor, so i sent the wife in this morning to make sure I get mine. After much deliberation i decided i'd rather unbox it myself than have the update installed for me when i get home. I fee llike a kid at christmas now! At christmas morning mass, that is...

DarthyPants - Amusing Name

Did you borrow Darth Vader Black Pant?

I wont be buying WII U and I will wait for PS 4 or XBOX 720

I had just watched a South Park episode called "Osama Bin Laden has Farty Pants" and thought i'd mash it with star wars. Just an entirely random idea that entered my head in the "crap, what nickname should i use" moment... Thanks for taking an interest!

So I decided to get ZombiU from the local electronics warehouse instead. Called and reserved a copy. Went there and they had no Wii U stuff out at all! Asked for my reserved game and they didn't know where it was, so they asked the games guy. His question to me: so is it for ps3 or...

Nice one! Let us know what you think of the console! :)

Before writing a long story, I'll just make a list...

+ general look and feel of the machine itself is great
+ tablet controller is more comfy than I initially thought
+ Miiverse could be really fun if it gets implemented correctly into games
+ the eShop looks good and tidy, too bad there's almost nothing in it yet
+ noise of the system is between PS3 slim and X360. Quiet enough for me.
= graphics are on par with the other consoles from what I've seen so far
- fully charged tablet controller lasts 2-3 hours
- tablet controller feels like a cheap toy
- loading the WiiU menu takes AT LEAST 15 seconds to complete
- loading games can take up to 50 seconds. feels almost like waiting for your AMiga to boot a game from floppy
- you can't turn off the display on the tablet even if the game does not make any use of it to save battery

I agree, but would like to add that it feels like an absolute dog when navigating the menus. It takes forever to open anything, from system settings to download manager. I really hope they make an effort to fix that asap. Should be a pleasure to quickly browse through the menus with the touch screen, but alas, it just feels like a chore.
The touch is good for a resistive screen, but being used to the vita and ipad it is slightly annoying.

I wonder what is causing slow menu navigation... what an odd issue for a console to have! Nintendo's always been competent at their UI's before - the GameCube was the first of their machines to feature one (not including Japanese only stuff such as the Famicom Disk System, Satellaview, N64 DD and RandNET, etc.) and not only did it look snazzy but it was fast and smooth.

I can't even begin to process the thought of a console with such a ridiculously slow menu system. What the hell could be behind it?

The OS feels rushed, so I'm sure it'll get fixed in a future update. Until then we can always play games instead of carousing menus
