Old thread revival. :p

Anyone got one yet? Wanna add some friends on this thing. My Nintendo ID is surprise surprise: Gouldin

Currently playing, Cod BO2, Tekken Tag 2, Ninja Gaiden 3 and Assassins Creed 3 when it turns up.

Just 6 Win U in Computer Exchange shop and it getting cheaper. Wait until next year and it will go under £200!

I did get one at launch, but not playing it much at the moment. Next up Rayman Legends and probably Colonial Marines :D

Wouldn't mind getting one but prob wouldn't use it much these days even if it was awesome. Then I'd have to be able to afford one  Can't afford to be so lavish with my funds these days.

I'll be keeping an eye on this thread to see how much everyone else is enjoying it though!

Gotta say, it's become my fave console after only a few days. Just the gamepad (Which I was skeptical of) is too useful.

Being able to put the games onto that screen whilst the gf is watching her soaps and then put it back on the tv etc is awesome.

Oh and 2 ppl using the same console for cod is ace, 1 on the gamepad screen, the other on the TV. certainly the best implimentation of split screen gaming I've seen yet :)

I agree, it has prooved itself very useful

My ID is Azhrei... I think, will have to go home and verify!

Agreed about the controller being very useful and also a joy to use. I only have Nintendoland and Zombie U for it at the moment - may look into getting NSMBU or Rayman soon, especially now that I've just bought a 1TB hard drive for it. I love the UI and Netflix is easier to use on it than it is on our media pc which we control via remote, and the connection is absolutely perfect, able to watch hd content with no buffering issues.

Absolutely love the Wii U, just waiting for the games now :)

Is WII U going to Flop as top Game company seem like not releasing games on WII U but release on Next Gen like PS 4 or Xbox 360!?

Could do, but once Zelda, Mario etc are out for it, it'll sell well enough.

Interesting fact, despite slow sales, it's selling better than the Xbox 360 and PS3 did in their opening months ;)

Too small adoption at the moment for most new multiplat titles. Unfortunately. Everything rides on Ninty stepping up and increasing market share.

E3 will be most telling. Although it's odd that old 360/PS3 titles like Human Revolution are being released for it, the fact that multiplatform titles like Watch Dogs are making their way to the console is a good thing. Actually, my flatmate is thinking of picking up Human Revolution for it as he is interested in the Director's Cut with redone boss battles. For myself, I've been enjoying indie titles such as The Cave and Trine 2, and Tank! Tank! Tank! is fun. Nintendoland is still getting a lot of playtime when friends show up. Rayman is absolutely hilarious and I was gutted that Ubisoft decided to delay. Will definitely pick that up when it releases. I'm also looking forward to Wind Waker HD. I would've gotten Assassin's Creed 3 if I hadn't got it for pc first.

E3 is going to be very interesting. I wonder if they'll show what Retro has been up to?

I borrowed one for a month and I only played a handful of times with it. Had Nintendo Land and ZombieU which both are decent but never held my attention that much. Mario Kart may be a game changer but like many 'fans' of Nintendo (I still play my SNES, GB and GC) I ave grown tired on constant reboots of the same franchises...I have grown up and am no longer a teenager!

Premium models with a copy of ZombieU can be had for around the launch price of the standard model which is good value but not of interest to me, next gen other than Watch Dogs is of little interest to me at present...

I gave up on consoles this gen because after buying and selling them on and then buying them back again so many times when interesting games were released, I realised that I was doing exactly this and my retro consoles were actually being used more.

There have been so few games released this gen that are actually worth holding on to a console for for me. I'm not much of a 'community gamer' and prefer single player stuff with stories to the multiplayer paradigm, which is what most modern games seem to focus on.
My PS3 was mostly used for PSN purchases of games like Final Fantasy 7 and one or 2 modern games that after the initial playthrough, were rarely getting played at all. Same story more or less with the 360. Most modern games I found were better purchases on PC. I just feel like I'm procrastinating playing most games these days.

I'm still undecided about the Wii U, it is different and has potential but it doesn't seem to have much to write home about just yet that makes it stand out, besides casual / novelty games.

I think it will be a train wreck of epic proportion, not sure what they've been smoking at Nintendo HQ but I'll like to get myself a large bag of it.

In every game-play video that I see of it, people are just looking at the 'controller tablet thingy' and what's actually on the HDTV screen is being pretty much ignored. Why would anyone want to sit in front of their huge HDTV and look at a low resolution tablet display?

Is it rude to quote myself :p

Wii U sales in dire straits

Well, first part is true at the moment, but the tablet has proven to be neat enough :D
Neat, mind you. Nothing more - yet.

Now that EA have stopped development of any new Wii U games it's not looking good for the system. Many might not like EA, but they were really one of the only 3rd party developers providing more mature games. If it falls back to 1st party then it will be about as popular as the GCN, and it's games library well suffer like the N64.

Yep, as much as I dislike some of EA's practices. They also own/publish for a lot of good developers. Bioware being my main example. (Still, that's what my pc is for)

If it ends up being as great as the gamecube I'll be very happy, despite a small library of games, that small library puts most other systems to shame. Possibly my favourite 3d console along with dreamcast.

I do think though that all 3 companies are going to struggle this time round. A few reasons why:

Graphics: WiiU is pretty weak. As is PS4 and the new Xbox all appear quite weak, most of my mates that are more of the casual FIFA crowd saw the PS4 vids on the net just weren't impressed, especially when they popped round mine and played things like the new Tomb Raider in 1080p max settings, tressfx etc on a 55" tv.
The new consoles just aren't going to sell themselves on graphics this time around, which ALL previous generations have done. (Wii being the exception)

Media capabilities: WiiU is good for streaming Netflix, ps4 and xbox will be too. But so is most peoples TV's, Apple TV's. WDTV, even SkyHD offer streaming. There's no need to get a PS4 for new optical technology etc either like there has been with the last couple of gens where it worked out cheaper to buy a console than a dedicated Blu-Ray player.

There just isn't going to be a compelling leap to buy the new generation. It's similar to 1080p displays, non tech people don't care if there content is 720p or 1080p. Heck, most of my non tech mates didn't realise they had to use the HDMI on a PS3 or component on 360 and actually change the settings to a higher res to see the benefits.
They were blissfully ignorant that they were playing regular SD modes on these things for a couple of years.

So, in summary, it all adds up to Tech minded folk will likely appreciate the new gen for the minor advances that they are, but the public in general is just going to go "£4xx-500 so I can stream games onto youtube? why would I want to do that?"

Outside of people already uploading to youtube and gaming blogs, I haven't heard one person that's excited about the PS4's Share button. Yet tha seems to be its biggest asset...

Perhaps I'm out of touch with gaming in general, but this gen is likely gonna crash and burn. I do enjoy the WiiU though :p (But I'm a realist, it's not going to wow people, but fits my need for playing COD on the toilet)

It has Nintendo games, therefore I have one. EA dropping the platform (I doubt they really have but the news isn't good - are they really that butthurt over Nintendo dropping Origin?) is cause for concern, but I really couldn't care less. I like many Wii U owners are waiting for games, and if it weren't for my pc I'd be buying a lot more on the console - I'll definitely be picking up Watch Dogs and Assassin's Creed 4 on pc. Looking forward to Wind Waker HD, the 3D Mario game and Mario Kart, and whatever Retro is cooking.

Yeah, it's not looking good so far, but whether Nintendo's home consoles do well or not doesn't really affect me. They keep making them and pumping out Zelda, I'll keep buying them :D

Incidentally, all my XBox owning friends look like they'll be jumping ship to PS4 when that arrives. They're not impressed with the new XBox.

Don't forget the definitive edition of Deus Ex!

You're right, every single Nintendo console since the NES has been worth buying for the first party games alone - Mario, Mario Kart, Zelda, Donkey Kong, Star Fox etc etc. 3rd party games are important, but I would happily own any Nintendo console just for the above games. I'm sure I'll pick up a Wii U eventually.
