Currently the floppy power connector is powering the internal floppy, scsi to Ide bridge, cf adapter, and the DVD drive. If I put the DVD drive at the end it has issues, if I power it early in the chain it works fine.
I want to put the scsi bridge etc inside the miggy and am trying to make the wiring as simple as possible. I can take a picture of the label on the drive if it helps?

I had assumed that as the DVD drive happily runs off the internal floppy power, the external connector would have enough to power it.

Really that is quite a lot things to power from internal floppy port. Hope your PSU is strong enough.
I wanted to point out that ext. floppy port amp in comparition to internal port may be amp limited, that is why I can not assure you it will provide enough power to your DVD. You can try to look in label if the drive lists the power needed. All I can say is I can build the cable, but I can not assure you it will work reliably.

OK - I will check the specs on the drive in a bit.
The PSU is one of the modified PC ones that Amigakit used to do previously, and the floppy traces were reinforced by Bas when he recapped the board last year.
I will get back you with the specs etc.

Yes, I can see 5V at 1500mA, that is 7,5WAT at 5V line, I really worry if floppy port could handle this.

OK thanks. I can continue with the current working setup rather than try this. It was just an idea that struck me when I saw something else.

You are welcome and the decision is right. But the idea is nice, but suited for less power hungry devices. Such cable would be useful for devices such as plipbox, more convenient than powering it by external psu.
